Freeform Nozzle

Unlike other nozzles, the Freeform nozzle can be placed freely on equipment or in space like any other piping component using mouse and Accudraw.

Available from:
  • Equipment Ribbon

When placing on equipment, it will be placed so that it is perpendicular to the equipment surface it is being placed (i.e. it's main port direction will be perpendicular to equipment surface nozzle is placed on).

The user can re-orient or move the nozzle once it has been placed on equipment using the available handlers.

If the user wants the option to control orientation when placing nozzle, it can be done by setting the variable:

OPM_ORIENT_FFNOZZLE_WHILE_PLACEMENT = 1
When enabled, the first click will confirm the position of the nozzle, then, once you have defined the orientation, the second click will place the nozzle.
Note: The default value for the configuration variable above is set to 0.

By default, when placing a Freeform nozzle, it will get the piping symbology if a pipeline is defined in the DGN. If there is no pipeline defined then equipment symbology will be applied. You can configure this behavior using the configuration variable:

OPM_FREEFORM_NOZZLE_SYMBOLOGY

The variable defaults to PIPING but can configured to apply only equipment symbology by setting it to EQUIPMENT.

Unlike other nozzles, the Freeform nozzle can be modified using the Modify Component dialog, which is displayed by right clicking on a nozzle and selecting Modify Component from the popup menu. Other nozzles are modified using the Nozzle Manager.

A Freeform nozzle placed in the DGN can be replaced using Quick Replace command in the nozzle popup menu. The popup menu will show other available nozzles from the same specification and nominal diameter which can directly replace the existing nozzle.

To replace the existing nozzle with a nozzle from a different specification or with a different nominal diameter, the Advanced Replace option available from the Quick Replace sub menu displays the Change Spec/Size dialog to allow the user to select a nozzle from the appropriate specification or nominal diameter.

The graphical image of the Freeform Nozzle is like any other nozzle available nozzle (see below)
